Ashburn, VA (December 8, 2014) – Broad Run Senior Catcher Lance Goodwin will continue his baseball career this coming fall at Wilmington University. Goodwin made his verbal commitment to Wilmington University Head Coach, Brian August, during his second visit to the Delaware campus in early December. August offered Goodwin following his workout with the Wildcats in early November.
Goodwin is a two year letter winner at Broad Run. As a junior he was the full-time starter behind the plate catching 22 of 23 games for the Spartans. He hit .263 on the season with 8 RBI and 4 walks, while throwing out an impressive 52% of would-be base stealers (12 of 23).
Broad Run Baseball Coach Pat Cassidy on Goodwin: “Lance is an outstanding catcher on the field but an even better person; he is an incredibly disciplined, hard worker who demonstrates outstanding character. I am very happy that he will continue his career at Wilmington and wish him nothing but the best in his future.”
Wilmington University is a Division II school in the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC). The CACC is one of only three conferences in the country that uses wood bats.
Goodwin also held offers from Nyack University in New York and Shepherd University in West Virginia, both Division II schools.
