Leesburg, VA (May 19, 2016) – Loudoun County High School is pleased to announce that senior Katie Orrison signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her athletic career with Christopher Newport University beginning the 2016/2107 academic school year.
At CNU, Katie will be playing for Lisa Valentine, who joined the Christopher Newport athletic department this past season as the fourth head coach in the 15-year history of the CNU women’s lacrosse program after leading St. Mary’s College of Maryland for the previous five seasons. Coach Valentine is a 2006 graduate of the University of Maryland, where she played lacrosse for the Division I powerhouse for four seasons. As a Terrapin, she helped the team reach the NCAA Tournament all four years, including a trip to the Final Four in 2003. Valentine earned her B.A. in economics from Maryland in May, 2006.
In Katie, CNU’s program is getting a player from Loudoun County High School that has proven herself as both a skilled attacker and leader of the Raider program for the past four years. Katie was named to the All Dulles Conference team as a Freshman, earned First Team honors as a Sophomore and Junior, and in 2015 was also named First Team All Region, and Second Team All State. She served the Raider program as Captain these past two seasons, was nominated as an Academic All American, and spends some of her free time coaching youth club lacrosse.
Please join us in both congratulating and wishing Katie the very best!
