Purcellville, VA (September 23, 2016) – On Thursday, September 22nd, Loudoun County Golf Club hosted the 2016 Conference 21 Golf Championship featuring teams from Dominion, Heritage, Loudoun County, Loudoun Valley, Park View, and Rock Ridge.
The Heritage Pride continued their regular season dominance by winning the Conference 21 Golf Championship with a combined team score of 306. Scoring for the Pride were Nick Rentsch (74), Eli Newman (77), Garrett Ganley (77), and Hayden Miller (78). Josh Petrillo and Aidan Baron both shot 85. All six members helped lead the Pride to an undefeated 11-0 regular season and the Conference 14 regular season title. Individually, Rentsch earned 2nd place low medalist honors, Ganley placed 5th, and Newman placed 6th at the championship.
The Loudoun Valley Vikings – 2015 VHSL 4A state champions, took second with a combined team score of 320. Scoring for the Vikings were Ryan Hammer (73), Josh Bowles (76), Sam Ball (85), and Bryce Nagaj (86). Individually, Bowles earned 4th place low medalist honors. Hammer earned 1st place low medalist honors (73) to repeat as the Conference 21 individual champion.
Both Heritage and Loudoun Valley will move on to compete as a team and individually in regional action on Tuesday, October 4th at Algonkian Golf Club.
Loudoun County’s Ryan Monastero, who earned 3rd place low medalist honors with a score of 75 will compete individually at regionals. He will be joined by teammate Devon Teasdale whose 81 was solid enough to advance.
Dominion’s Max Dyson, who shot a 79 will also compete at regionals. He will be joined by teammates Kelvin Shen, Quinn Hollister, and Alex Brendes, all of whom shot an 83 and had to compete in a sudden death hole for the right to advance.
