Sterling, VA (Sept 10, 2017) – In a game punctuated by big plays from both teams, it was steady production from the Potomac Falls rushing attack that proved to be the difference as the Panthers got their first win of the season on Friday, September 8th over the visiting Riverside Rams, 40-21.
Potomac Falls rolled up nearly 400 yards of offense and scored on six straight possessions between the 2nd and early 4th quarters. RB Clemont Mpanya led the team with five rushing touchdowns, and RB Jad Raqi added a sixth, beating defenders down the sideline to score from 84 yards out. QB Hunter Lawall only threw one pass on the night, but the 58-yard bomb to WR Ian Gregory energized the offense and led to the Panthers’ first score. S Dean Ferguson led the Potomac Falls defense with 5.5 tackles and two forced fumbles.
The victory takes the Panthers to 1-2, while Riverside falls to 2-1. Potomac Falls next travels to Mclean to face the Langley Saxons on Friday, September 15.
