Langley, VA (Sept. 16, 2017) – Both offenses moved the ball up and down the field at Langley High School on Friday, Sept. 15th, but four Saxon turnovers proved to be the difference as Potomac Falls returned from their only trip into Fairfax County this season with a 37-21 victory.
Panther RB/LB Myles Lipscomb led the way for Potomac Falls, rushing for three touchdowns and scoring a fourth on a fumble recovery. RB Clemont Mpanya also scored for the Panthers. Saxon QB Jimmy Keys had success against the Panther secondary, throwing for 230 yards and three touchdowns, including a one-handed over-the-shoulder effort from TE Duncan Brown. But the Panther secondary also intercepted Keys three times, including twice in the second quarter to prevent Langley from cutting into a growing deficit.
Dean Ferguson led the Panther defense with 9.5 tackles and made the play that turned the game permanently in Potomac Falls’ favor. The Panther safety ripped the ball from Keys at the end of a QB keeper midway through the second quarter; the pigskin bounced straight to a waiting Lipscomb, who raced 39 yards to put the Panthers up three scores.
The win evens Potomac Falls’ record at 2-2. The Panthers next play host to the Freedom-South Riding Eagles (0-3) on Friday, September 22.
